Once a mainstay along DC’s “Black Broadway,” the majestic Howard Theater, fell into disrepair after the 1968 Martin Luther King riots decimated the neighborhood. In April, after a few failed attempts to bring it back, the Howard celebrated a grand re-opening with such celebrities as Dionne Warwick, Smokey Robinson, Leslie Uggams, Bill Cosby, Martha Reeves and Savion Glover.
